I have been approved for the Insulin Pump.
I have been waiting for quite a long time already and my case had to go to a panel for a decision, but thankfully they voted in favour of me having it. I will still have to wait a few months until I can have it. I will need to learn how to use it but I cannot wait. It’s going to change everything. I know I will have to work hard to get used to it and it won’t be a quick fix but long term it will improve my HBA1C (Glycated Haemoglobin) ((Sugar in the blood)) and eventually it will improve my overall health. The pump is a very cool device that works by giving a continuous small dose of insulin that can be adjusted according to food intake and activity mimicking a healthy pancreas. It is also compatible with a continuous glucose monitor that records blood sugar levels every eight seconds. The pump is like a small mobile phone and it’s quite discreet. I can’t wait to get this bionic piece of kit and tell you all about it.
